Light (physics)
Light physics is the science of the physical properties of light. Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Light is often described in terms of how bright the light is, which is known as its amplitude; the color of the light, which refers to its wavelength, and the angle of vibration, which is known as its polarization. The light that we … Keep Reading → can see typically takes the form of waves of varying lengths depending on the source of the energy. We can only see a small band of waves; this is known as the visible spectrum. Other spectrums that can’t be seen include infrared and ultraviolet light. Light can be made by incandescence, which is heat; or by illumination, which is usually not hot and occurs as the result of a variety of chemical reactions. Light has the unique quality of duality; sometimes light acts as waves and sometimes it acts as particles.
