The modern field of psychology would not be formed until almost the 20th century when William Wundt created the first psychology laboratory to conduct experiments in Germany in 1897. The work of Wundt and other German psychologists led to the school of thought known as structuralism. In the early 20th century John Watson and later B.F. Skinner created and advanced the movement of Behaviorism. At around the same time Sigmund Freud was creating his theories on psychoanalysis in Europe. Carl Jung followed Freud with his groundbreaking work on the unconscious and analytical psychology.
