Many of these findings are useful in anthropological studies of past societies and civilizations. The largest area of specialization is called cultural anthropology. This has many similarities with aspects of sociology. In cultural anthropology the identifying aspects of particular cultures are observed and evaluated. This can include information such as unique physical characteristics as well as behavioral and infrastructure issues. All factors that describe or influence a society may be considered within cultural anthropology.
