Teachers must have an understanding of the subject matter that they teach as well as the teaching process itself. This involves an understanding of psychological factors such as how to motivate students. Since not all students are alike teaching involves determining the best methods for reaching different personality types. Teachers must create lesson plans that aren’t overwhelming yet still challenge students. It is equally important to create a supportive environment so students that are having difficulty won’t feel ashamed to ask for help.
