Being a movie star, or even a television star, is … Keep Reading → different from being an actor. Many great actors are not “stars.” Being a star is more. It carries with it a degree of celebrity. Movie stars are famous. Ironically, Peter O’Toole is an example of someone who was an actor AND a movie star in real life. There are plenty of those as well. Names such as Marlon Brando, Paul Newman and Denzel Washington certainly fit the category. Television has its share of actors who are TV stars as well; Hugh Laurie comes to mind. We can also think of plenty of movie and TV stars that we don’t consider to be great actors. That doesn’t matter. They’re still stars.
