James Dean is one of the most noteworthy teen idols because he doesn’t exactly fit the mold. He wasn’t singing and smiling. He was intense and upset. It was that independent and fiery spirit that teenagers related to so well. Elvis Presley is another classic teen idol and he is much more representative of what we think of as a teen idol. We have all seen the videos of the screaming girls. David Cassidy in the 1970’s had his own time as a teen idol. The star of The Partridge Family was also a popular singer and his concerts featured his screaming fans. More recent examples of teen idols include Justin Timberlake, Zac Efron and Justin Bieber.
