Celebrities are undoubtedly used to being praised and admired. Sometimes this is taken to an even greater level. There are some celebrities who, usually after many years, are honored with some type of tribute. One of the most respected honors is presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Past winners have included Bruce Springsteen, Barbara Streisand, Robert De Niro and Mel Brooks. The Academy Awards also presents an award for lifetime achievement. Various other organizations can, and sometimes do, pay tribute to celebrities based on either specific or lifetime achievements. We are all familiar with the large number of award shows that present awards annually to celebrities in many categories across all areas of the entertainment industry.
