It was funny, but it had nothing to do with the serious issues that people were thinking about in the real world. This type of comedy is designed more to make people forget about their problems and just laugh. Contemporary humor often makes people consider issues that are not at all funny in the real world. An example of this would be George Carlin who consistently talked of wars that the United States participated in. The subject matter was not funny. It was Carlin’s unique take on the subject that was the source of the humor.
