There is something about the crime film that has always seemed to appeal to audiences. The lives and exploits of those living on the other side of the law have provided some of the best and most enjoyable movies ever made. The genre certainly isn’t new. James Cagney and Edward G. These films were innovative in that they featured charismatic characters that lived outside of the rules of society. For many people the thought of crime films bring to mind two of the acknowledged master directors; Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola. They have been responsible for some of the best and most successful of the crime films. Leading the way are The Godfather I and II by Coppola. Sometimes crime films are based on actual events. In Cold Blood, the movie based on the book by Truman Capote is an example of this style.
