Just 5 years later the tale of the horrors of World War I, All Quiet on the Western Front was released. Some of the best movies later in the 20th century focused on the insanity of war; the best of them include Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, and Full Metal Jacket. Sometimes war movies don’t focus primarily on the fighting of the war, but rather the impact of war on individuals and vice versa. Examples of this include The Deer Hunter and Schindler’s List.
