By the time of Elvis Presley, Americans were starting to see some of the possibilities of country music mixing with different styles such as rock and roll. The rise of southern rock bands such as Lynrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and The Marshall Tucker Band continued this trend of country music being combined with other musical styles. In recent years artists such as Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill have successfully combined country music with popular music to attract new fans not only across the country but across the world as well.
