There is some disagreement as to the beginnings of punk music, but the nature of the music is undisputed. The beginnings of punk rock are noteworthy for many reasons, including the fact that the musicians in some of the early bands were awful. Many could barely play or sing. The experience was more about the energy and anger of the group than the music. Some of the acts eventually became competent and in some cases even good musicians. Some of the most successful of the early bands were The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, and The Clash. Modern bands such as Green Day have been heavily influenced by the punk rock movement.
