Latin Dance

Latin dance refers to the many forms of dance that have their origins in Latin America. Latin dancing is traditionally divided between social and ballroom style dances. The ballroom dances are jive, cha-cha-cha, samba, paso doble, and rumba. There are many other variations of the social dances but the ballroom dances are limited to the five mentioned above. Many of the social dances are popular in dance clubs in the U.S. One of the favorites is the Argentinian Tango which so many people enjoy because of its improvisational nature. Salsa dancing is also very popular. The dance, which has its origins in Cuba, was made popular by many of the Latin American immigrants in New York City. Latin dances tend to be energetic, partner based dances, which accounts for much of their popularity.
