The electric guitar played a critical role in the development of rock and roll as well as jazz and other forms of music. It is the manner in which electronic music is used today that creates controversy. Electronic equipment such as synthesizers is used to create sounds that are not actually played by an instrument. It is this music creation aspect that some find troubling. Despite this, electronic music has become very popular both as a way of tweaking traditional music and as a way of creating entirely new forms of music. That isn’t likely to change.
