Everyone loves to laugh. All in the Family and Mash presented characters and subject matter that achieved the amazing feat of making people laugh while making them think. Occasionally they made us uncomfortable; sometimes very uncomfortable, but that was part of their genius. Other shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Happy Days presented characters that were role models that also made us laugh. The Cosby Show was a very funny show that showed America a different side to the black experience than most television and movies before. Later came the unique characters of Seinfeld, the classic show about nothing that made us laugh. There have been so many great comedies; a few even made us think as well.
