The rice is mixed with water, brought to a boil, and then simmered and steamed for about 30 minutes. If there is any water left in the pot then the rice needs to steam for a little more time. Once steamed, rice can be used in a limitless number of ways with other foods. Potatoes and rice are not the only starches that we cook.
