Another important consideration that impacts food preservation is the method that the food is packed and stored in. Food may come in cans, jars, bottles, plastic packaging and other options as well. Since exposure to the air makes food degrade faster those storage solutions that keep air away from the food are considered the best. Once we buy the food we must consider the best place to store it. Some foods require refrigeration or freezing. Some foods need to be kept away from sunlight or extreme temperatures. Reading the food label is usually the best way to determine the appropriate method of storage.
