Food Regulations Around the World
People in the United States take for granted that the food that is sold will be safe to eat. While there is the occasional instance of tainted food, for the most part the food is reliable and safe. Two of its organizations; The World Health Organization as well as the Food and Agriculture Organization do their best to monitor and help countries institute safe practices for producing, handling, and distributing food. These two organizations have combined to form The International Food Safety Authorities Network, which has 177 member nations and facilitates the sharing of information regarding best practices of food safety. In the event of an instance of contaminated food, this large network is able to quickly communicate the information worldwide. Ultimately, individual countries must take responsibility for their own safety regulations, but the UN is doing its best to provide the necessary education.
