Central American Cuisine

Central America consists of mostly poor countries. This certainly plays a role in the cuisine which while diverse and flavorful, mostly relies on simple ingredients and preparations. Honduras has some of the same foods, but they also demonstrate more tropical influences with fruits such as coconuts and a greater emphasis on fish. Nicaragua is similar to Honduras, but has an even more extensive of tropical fruits which are prominently featured in many of the recipes. As with many nations, the cuisines of the countries of Central America reflect the natural resources that are available and plentiful.
