There are Islamic influences in some of the cultures and that is reflected in the cuisine as well. Somalia, for example, mostly follows the laws of halal in slaughtering and preparing meat. Many of the recipes of East Africa reflect Middle Eastern and Indian influences and are often flavored with different types of fruit and tend to be sweet in flavor.
