Native Americans used corn for many things; including bases for meals, breads, and even to make alcoholic beverages. As Native Americans would use whatever they could find or grow as part of the cuisine, items that grew wild such as berries and edible plants also became important parts of the diet. Wild ginger and different types of peppers were used as part of many dishes. Whatever meat and fish could be found and caught was incorporated as well. Native American cuisine was the typical diet of a simple culture that lived off of the land.
