From plates filled to the brim with slabs of beef to pies made from meat, the presence of meat seems to dominate the cuisine. The British have always been known for big breakfasts with all kinds of eggs, meats, and starches. Other classic British dishes include fish & chips and steak and kidney pie. The British are well known for their afternoon teas which traditionally includes scones with cream and jam. The cuisine of modern Britain has attempted to bring more Asian and Mediterranean influences into the food. Many believe the changes have been positive, but the cuisine of the area still has a way to go to be considered among the best.
