In the late '80s, I volunteered as a "buddy" to five different men who had full-blown AIDS. Other than a short poem, I never wrote about them because there was too much emotion attached to even consider it. When I began writing on Hub Pages, I decided to try. I would like to think that writing about each of them would give them a bit of immortality. They all deserved better than they got in their last days here on earth.
