Pellet stoves are considered more environmentally friendly since pellet fuel is recycled wood shavings, sawdust or nut hulls. Some pellet stoves include a variable blower to direct the warmed air. Natural gas and electric fireplaces are another alternative to the wood stove. These come in freestanding units or as fireplace inserts. Neither uses wood fuel, but relies on natural gas or electricity. Most of these have blower systems attached as well.
