By the time Sunday comes around and it’s time for a game, the fans are ready to explode. And the emotion in the football stadiums as well as in the homes of fans is unmatched by any other sport. The NFL has achieved a competitive balance that is unique among professional sports. Because the league has such a lucrative television contract that it splits evenly between teams, football doesn’t suffer the imbalance between small and big market teams that plagues baseball. Every team gets the same amount of revenue and they all have the same payroll. The result is one fantastic sport.
