Depending upon the school there may be cheerleaders at other sporting events such as baseball and soccer as well. Cheerleading can also be a competitive sport on its own. Most locations have contests where cheerleaders from different schools compete. These continue on to state and then national levels. National cheerleading competitions are very serious events with highly choreographed routines. They can often be viewed on sports networks such as ESPN.
