Though there are several popular leagues around the world, ice hockey is very much associated with the National Hockey League of Canada and the United States. Players from all over the world come to North America to compete in the NHL. Outside of North America the most popular place for hockey is Europe. Because hockey is a cold weather sport, it is usually found in countries with cold climates such as Russia and Sweden.
