For those who haven’t seen rugby it looks a lot like a combination of soccer and American football. The ball, which looks similar to a football, can’t be passed forward; it must either be run ahead by the carrier or kicked forward. As in American football, the ball in rugby tends to draw a large crowd of players. The enduring image of rugby for many is the scrum, which consists of a pile of players fighting for the ball. Rugby is a physically demanding game that requires fitness and strength. Unlike American football, rugby players do not wear helmets and other protective equipment.
