When satellite television started become popular a few years ago it stressed the digital quality of its programming. This distinction is not as significant in many areas today as most cable companies are now offering digital programming as well. For many people the main difference between satellite and cable comes down to availability. Satellite television is available in many remote areas where cable television is not. One important consideration with satellite television is that the “dish” must have a clear line of site to the southern sky to be able to access the signal. If there are large trees or other structures blocking the view it may not be possible to receive the satellite signal.
