It seemed like every time a new website was visited or software downloaded, Vista warned us that it might be dangerous. The system was considered to be a resource hog that reduced the performance of most computers. There were many reports of system crashes as well. Microsoft was faced with the embarrassing situation of many people asking to revert back to XP. Computer makers such as Dell started offering the choice of XP or Vista for new computer purchases. Microsoft recognized that a new version was needed. In late 2009 Windows 7 was released to critical acclaim. Vista was gone; people would not miss it.
