Over time the technology of encryption made it much safe to communicate and conduct delicate transactions such as banking and stock trading online. The use of the internet as a platform for shopping couldn’t experience significant growth until people were comfortable that their transactions were private. Today most people feel secure that the encryption is sophisticated and will protect them and their personal data. There have been cases where security was compromised; but that can happen offline as well. For the most part shopping and banking online are considered at least as safe as doing those things offline. The internet and encryption technology have come a long way.
