It is estimated that the networks consists of tens of millions of computers, but that number is always growing. Each computer is given a designated IP address by their internet service provider. The address identifies the user and allows that computer to use the Network Access Points of the providers to reach out to others in the large series of networks. That explanation may not make the workings of the internet any clearer, but the good news is that for most of us all we need to know how to do is point and click.
