These programs can be anything from an advertisement that is a mild nuisance to viruses that can disable or destroy computer systems and networks. Viruses and spyware come are files that are placed on our computers without our permission and usually without us being aware of it. The best way to prevent this is with one of the many available anti –virus software programs. The programs sometimes come bundled with a computer purchase and sometimes we have to purchase them separately. There are excellent free alternatives as well. Programs from companies such as AVG and AVAST are free downloads that work very well for most people.
