Solar, Wind, and Hydro Energy

Three of the most popular forms of alternative energy that exist are solar, wind, and hydro energy. Solar energy has always seemed to hold great promise. The sun represents an inexhaustible resource. The challenges with solar energy have been that not all locations receive the same amount of sunlight, and that the initial installation of the … Keep Reading → equipment is expensive. Research continues to be conducted to try and address both of those challenges. Wind power is another form of alternative energy. Wind turbines are able to take the power of the wind and convert it to electricity. Many feel they represent a legitimate opportunity to create a powerful and renewable source that can power large areas. Significant resources have been invested and there is great hope for the future of wind energy. Finally, hydro energy is another form of alternative energy. Hydro powered energy creates electricity through the power of moving water. The most popular form of this energy is the dam which uses the water to create rotation in turbines that create electricity. Some have expressed concern over the environmental impact of dams.
