Alona Beach

Alona Beach, characterized by an 800-meter stretch of coral white sand shore is the most popular beach in Panglao Island in Bohol. It is the most developed beach area dotted with busy resorts and hotels thought not as crowded as in Boracay.

Alona beach is characterized by some rocky areas and sea urchins, those black spiky creatures are in abundance. Nevertheless, the varied beach activities in this island will fill up your schedule and make your stay worthwhile.

For spelunking enthusiasts, there are beautiful caves worth checking off Alona beach. Diving aficionados and snorkeling lovers will not be left out because a few hundred meters off the coast is a reef home to reefs with abundant fish population. Dive resorts can also be found in this area.

Bikini Beach

Bikini Beach is a small beach located in Dauis about eight (8) kilometers away from the city of Tagbilaran. The area is frequented by locals and families to spend quality time during weekends. Picnics are common in this beach. There are no major resorts in this area as of this moment but there are cottages, tables and chairs which can be rented at a minimal cost.

Bolod Beach

Also located in Panglao Island is Bolod beach which boasts of the longest shoreline. It has about 1.5 kilometer stretch of fine white sand. This area is a couple of kilometers away from Alona Beach. It is a public beach and expect it to be crowded during the weekends. There are available huts and cottages in the area which can be rented for at least P150 (2009 prices) during the day and night swimming is allowed.

Doljo Beach

Doljo beach is likewise located in Panglao Island, near another beach (Momo). This part is free from sea grasses hence ideal for swimming. The upscale Ananyana Resort is likewise located in Doljo beach. One may rent private huts and cottages at minimal fees.

Dumaluan Beach

Dumaluan Beach is located in the more quite tip of the Panglao island. Located more than 2 kilometers way from Alona beach, it is a perfect location for divers. Dumaluan takes pride in its unique reef and coral rock formations. By renting out a banca, one may be even be lucky to get a glimpse of dolphins or whales off its coast.

Accommodations are available for a few days stay with Bohol Beach Club and Dumaluan Resort.

Momo Beach

Momo beach is located in the secluded part of Panglao island. Though shallow and still undeveloped, be enthralled by its clear blue waters. Since there are no cottages and tables for rent, visitors would have to make do with camping-style outing.

It's beautiful. My wife and I were married at Baclayon Church and honeymooned at Ananyana Beach Resort on Panglao. We're looking forward to going back to Ananyana -- simple elegance.
