7 Free Activitities For Adults

Free Weekend Fun

Having a great weekend and spending time with family and friends is one of the great luxuries of life and fortunately it doesn't have to put a dent on your budget. Here is a list of 7 fun activities that won’t cost you a cent.

1. Enjoy a Picnic With Family and Friends

Call up some family and friends and have everyone bring a plate and meet up for a picnic at your local beach or park. You could even bring a small radio along for atmosphere.

Tip: Have a rough idea what everyone is bringing and make sure that someone is bringing the essentials (cutlery, plates, cups etc)

2. Become a Guinea Pig

Becoming a guinea pig is a great way to save money! Let me clarify. Many service providers teaching schools (hairdressing, massage schools etc) offer the general public free services in exchange for allowing their students real world practice. You could have a beauty makeover weekend without paying a cent.

Some people have a fear about being a student's guinea pig, but you needn't worry as students are closely supervised by their teachers and in most cases are their with the student in the entire time.

Tip: You might need to contribute for the cost of supplies e.g hair dye, so make sure you find this out before your appointment.

3. Attend a Free TV Show Taping

Most TV shows don't charge an admission fee to become a part of their studio audience. As well as being entertaining, it can be a great experience to actually see how a TV show is put together, and if it's a game show you may end up with some prizes too!

4. The Local Art Gallery

The local Art gallery can be a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. There may be specific exhibitions that include an admission fee, but if you stick to the free area you won't pay a cent.

Tip: Art gallery café’s are notorious for being overpriced so make sure you don’t visit an art gallery on an empty stomach. If you plan to spend several hours at the gallery pack some light refreshments and find a local nearby park to have afternoon tea.

5. Attend Free Local Activities

You'd be surprised how many free events probably happen in your town each weekend-. Local council websites usually have an event calendar. Many radio stations and newspapers have an event calendar on their sites as well.

Tip: Make sure to sign up to your local councils ‘events mailing list’ (if there is one) this way you will always know what’s happening.

6. Spend the Afternoon at the Beach

What's better than spending a lazy afternoon at the beach. Find your inner child and make sandcastles and fly kites, or relax with a good book. Bliss!

7. Take a Hike

Find out where the best places to go for a hike in your neighbour are and grab some friends and go! As well as being free fun, it's also great exercise and a great way to unwind after a busy work week.

Hiking is a great activity and a wonderful exercise to boot (anyone who reads my hubs knows I love walking!). I like the idea of going to the art gallery too, I hadn't really considered that!
