And you can visit Roanoke Island where the first European settlement was only to later become the lost colony. In 1587 on Roanoke Island 120 men and women landed and established the first European settlement. Shortly after they arrived Virginia Dare the first English child born in the New World as it was then called was born to colonist Eleanor Dare. However by 1590 the entire colony vanished and has been a mystery to this day. You can visit Roanoke Island today and attend an outdoor drama play about the Lost Colony.

Bald Head Island is one of the most beautiful and unique places in North America. No cars are allowed on the island but you can get around by electric golf cart. And on the 12.000 acre island you'll find 10.000 acres of untouched marshes , beaches and forest. Be sure to see Old Baldy Lighthouse and what ever you do be sure to bring your camera.

Atlantic Beach North Carolina is located on Bogue Banks a barrier island bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Bogue Sound. The area is also known as North Carolina's Crystal Coast. And you can drive on the beach from October 1 through March 15th. Take walks along the beach at night and watch for Sea Turtles but don't disturb them. You'll also find some of the best fishing in the world here.

Topsail Beach is located at the southern end of Topsail Island which is a barrier island located just off the coast of North Carolina. There is a legend that pirates including Blackbeard used Topsail Island as a hiding place and as a hiding place for their treasure. There are over 1500 homes located at Topsail Beach but only about 500 year round residents. The only Sea Turtle Hospital located in North Carolina is located on Topsail Beach.
