A Day at the Beach Essentials

Updated on September 22, 2019

Are you ready for summer? Most people are, especially if you happen to live in a location where the winter season has been brutally cold and long. Now is the time to plan for family vacations, fun outdoor activities or just some welcomed relaxation in the sun.

One favorite get away spot for families is the beach. For people who are fortunate enough to live close to the beach or coast, this makes for a convenient and affordable destination which can be a fun family activity throughout the summer months ahead.

If you are going to the beach just for a day or planning for a summer vacation out of town, be sure to take stock of what beach items will be essential to take with you. Making sure that you have everything that you will need for yourself and family will make your day at the beach a pleasant experience.

Essentials

Swim Suit - If you have a swim suit from last year, try it on to see if you are still happy with the fit.

Maybe you have been wearing the same style of swim suit for years, think about trying something new. There are many colorful and stylish bikinis, tankinis and one piece suits to choose from.

Beach Towels - a large beach towel is perfect for laying on as you are tanning and relaxing. Everyone should have their own beach towel.

A Floppy Beach Hat - While the sun's rays may feel good, you want to protect your face from over exposure.

Children definitely benefit from hats as their young skin can be damaged from the sun's rays.

Sun Screen - how many times have you forgotten to pack sun screen, the most important item for everyone in the family.

Too much sun on unprotected skin can leave your skin looking aged and weathered. Sun screen is the best defense against sunburns and can lessen your chances of developing skin cancer.

A Good Book - a day at the beach is a good time to catch up on your reading. From a trashy novel to something more serious, whatever your interests are.

Tote Bag - a large tote bag can hold just about everything that you take with you to the beach. Have a separate tote bag for everyone in your family.

Insulated Tote Bag - is perfect for snacks and cold beverages. For larger families a Wheeled Cooler will hold sandwiches, salads, fruit and plenty of cool drinks.

Besides taking enough food and beverages with you there are a few other things you may also need. I drink lots of bottled water throughout the day so I definitely take a case of bottled water with me when I go to the beach.

Depending on how comfortable you want to be at the beach, there are a few other things that you may want to consider taking along such as:

  • Extra towels
  • Beach toys for the kids
  • Folding beach chair
  • Beach umbrella
  • Flip flops
  • Camera
  • Ipod
  • Over sized sunglasses
  • Beach cover up
  • Medical kit
  • Phone charger
  • Batteries
  • Pillows
  • Sun Glasses
