Albatros Palace Resort & Spa 5*, Hurghada. Review
If you ask me why I write this article I’ll say that I just want to help other people, those who spend many hours on the Internet choosing a hotel and looking for any useful information from the tourists who have already visited it; I do it because I was in the same shoes several months ago.
So let’s start. My husband and me decided to visit Egypt several months ago. We have choosen the Albatros Palace which is one of the newest hotels in Hurghada, constructed in 2008. The Hurghada International Airport is located approximately 5 miles away from the hotel so it takes about 15 minutes to get there.
On arrival at the hotel we were shown into the lobby where reception was situated. Check-in took place there. We were all served with a drink but the check-in procedure seemed to be quite long though well organised (I consider that it took as about half an hour and it seemed even longer because I was very tired after the flight).
After check-in procedure we rushed to the room. The room was great, large and very clean with a nice view on the pool from our balcony. The bed was very large and comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. What I liked was the fact that the mini fridge was stocked with 2 bottles of water every day and the flat screen TV had several English channels. There is nothing even slightly negative I could say about the room but may be rooms are not well-lit for those who like to read a book before fall asleep.
The swimming pool is large and fantastic. It consists of three pools, one of them (with 5 jacuzzi) is warmed up in winter, another pool has a nice bar in the center of it where you can order a drink or an ice-cream.
In the majority of hotels tourists try to reserve the best sunbeds early in the morning. In Albatros Palace at about 7.30 the pool boys go round the pool collecting all the unattended towels. I think that it’s a good system and it is just.

The beach was slightly disappointing at the very beginning because it was very difficult to go for a swim from the beach as it is very rocky and you needed special shoes. Also it was shallow for about first 40 metres. But for the guests of Albatros Palace there was a nice jetty where one could sunbathe, swim and dive (I recommend you to buy foot fins and a goggle cause you’ll have a good opportunity to get acquainted with the beauty of the Red Sea). Also it was possible to attend the beach of the nearest hotel which also belongs to the chain of Albatros hotels. There the beach was sandy and it wasn’t so shallow.
The food was good though it was quite typical for Egyptian hotels. There were 4 restaurants in the hotel and everyone had an opportunity to choose food he liked from quite lenten to extremely picky.
As for the gym I think it is excellent and well maintained though they don't provide towels but it wasn’t a problem for me cause we got beach towels every day. In the same building there was a Turkish sauna. It was great! I can’t even describe what I felt when I came from it. It seemed to me that I got rebirth.
In the end I want to add that I can't praise this hotel enough: well maintained, clean, great staff, good food, fantastic pools and a private beach. I think I can never forget our honey moon in Albatros Palace.
P.S. I also advise to go on different excursions; we went for a sea trip and for a desert drive on 4-wheelers, camels and so on. It was great! You won’t be disappointed.
