Arizona: HubTrail Capstone

Grand Canyon State
Grand Canyon State

Nestled in the Southwest part of the United States known for its magnificent sunsets and beautiful sunrises , most recently placed in the spotlight for its controversial illegal-immigration law, Arizona is a wonderful place to visit and a great place to live. Population estimated in 2008 at Apr. 1,567, 924, many migrate to Arizona in the winter from all over the United States for the seasonally warm temperatures and sunny skies. A mutli-cultural state Arizona has The Heard Museum, Arizona Science Center, Phoenix Art Museum that always has many exhibitions according to the time of year.

Home to the Phoenix Suns , youngest team to win the World series our famous Arizona Diamondbacks along with the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Coyotes, our state boasts some of the best teams in the Country. If you are an avid antique collector we have many antique shops , vintage clothing shops, and restaurants just North of Phoenix in the heart of Glendale. Scottsdale is host to Barett-Jackson where avid car collector's or fans come to mingle, look , purchase or reminisce about many of the beautiful vehicles that are presented each year for many sightseers to look at or scoop up and take home to add to there own collection. Are you a collector of Art? Scottsdale is home to many art exhibitions from September through December where many famous artists including unknowns exhibit there work for the world to appreciate, admire and enjoy.

Summer in Arizona is not for the person who is not used to unusual high-temperatures along with dry air. If you travel here in the summer and are not a tadpole or pool bunny take a trip up north to get away from the scorching heat. Sedona, Arizona has beautiful red rock, great resorts and restaurants to tantalize every taste bud. Venture up to Flagstaff before you travel to the Grand Canyon stop by The Cottage Place Restaurant open from 5:00pm until 9:30 pm the restaurant was built in 1909 it was originally a home , housing a few families before it was purchased in 1980 and converted the The Cottage Place. The Award of Excellence has been given to The Cottage Place since 1996, the service is excellent and the food is superb, when it comes to fine dining in Flagstaff they are the cream of the crop.

If you are looking for romantic evenings, northern getaways, southern ghost towns, art museums, wishing to take in a few games or just hang out by the pool Arizona is the place to be when you plan your next vacation.

It sounds wonderful. Lived in Phoenix back in the early 80s. It is hot in the summer. Had to try it too, fried an egg right on the side walk. And Sedona is just beautiful.

Hey Julianna, way to go on the hub. Looks great and sounds like a place I would want to live. Actually, almost moved to Arizona to live, but other factors prevented it from happening. Thank you for sharing. :)

I've not seen a great deal of AZ outside of Grand Canyon, which is spectacular. I'm not much into resorts and the like, but antique shops sound like fun.

Thanks for putting up this interesting read! ;-)

Have heard of some Art Shows in Sedona, yet not Scottsdale? Maybe if I was involved in the Art Community, I would know more about that:) Thanks for the share!

As he sits and looks at the frost forming on the windshield of the vehicles sitting in his driveway.

It helps to look as well at the A/C I installed in the window to get ready for what is to come.

Great Hub and a blessing to read about.

Hugs as always

A great hub that captures the essence of Arizona - though it still gets me that 110 degree heat when you first step off the plane in summer.

It's been so long since I've been to Arizona. We used to fly out from Penn in Feb or March to visit my grandparents after they moved to Mesa. I loved the air at that time of year and golfing at the Camelot golf course. I used to drive over after moving to So Cal. Hope to get there again soon.

Don: It has grown but is still a wonderful place to visit, not necessarily in the middle of July the fall is the best time. When you come I bet you will enjoy it just like you did before.:)

The Grand Canyon gave me an appreciation for beauty, a sense of fragility, an awe of nature and a fear of God like nothing else could. Next time I visit, I want to hike into the canyon to the Havasupai Falls. Thanks for the article and memories.

I just returned from two weeks in AZ, north of Phoenix. It rained a bit every day I was there except one - very spotty monsoon showers, but the weather was absolutely delightful. And nothing beats the blue of those puff-filled AZ skies! Nor the cool desert nights and beautiful sunrises...
