I used to go to the Hanmer Springs hot pools in New Zealand a lot with my parents over 20 years ago & loved visiting there every year !
Yesterday we went for a drive out along the Gibb River road to Zebedee Springs which is an amazing place to visit.
Some of the scenery can be seen in the movie "Australia with Nicole Kidman.
Unfortunatly you do have to pay $18 each to go onto El Questro land however there are many Gorges etc to explore while there so it is worth the drive.
As we travel around Australia we will look out for more artesian hot springs to enjoy and relax in.
Mataranka Falls is a favourite at the top of Australia .

When we leave Kununurra and are travelling through Mataranka we will check out the Bitter Springs Thermal pool for a nice relaxing place to have a dip and actually stretch out and do some laps, instead of the well frequented Mataranka Thermal pools.
The springs here actually branch off into a stream which you can follow down 100 metres to a bridge & ladder to climb out of then go for a walk around the Springs.

If you prefer a free spa rather than a commercial one take a drive out from Hanmer, drive over Jacks Pass, turn left to St James Homestead, walk down Peters Valley and over Peters Pass to the Edwards River. Cow Stream is on the left, the hot pool is located at the foot of the hill.
About 10km walk.
From midyear (2010) there will be 4WD drive access right to the pool through the Edwards Pass Entrance
