On April 16, 2010, me with my family including my wife and daughter visited ITC Maurya Hotel in New Delhi. We had been to Vasant Continental, Hotel Centaur, Hotel Hyatt Regency before but it was our first time to visit this hotel. Also, it was our fourth wedding anniversary, so I wanted to give a surprise to my wife with a luxurious dinner in this best hotel of Delhi. I had already checked out reviews on Internet about the different dining arrangements and restaurants at ITC Maurya and selected to dine at Dum Pukht, as I found it most family friendly out of The Pavilion, Maroush, Bukhara, West View, Golf Bar, and Dublin Resto Bar.

As soon as we reached the entrance of Maurya Sheraton in the car, a well-dressed parking attendant opened the doors of our car and welcomed us to the hotel. He handed over the parking token to us and we entered the lobby of the hotel after a brief frisking done by the security guards at the gate who were very polite and courteous.

When we entered the lobby of Maurya Sheraton, we were greeted by some decent people from the hotel staff. We went ahead and were amazed to see the grand appearance of the hotel’s lobby, especially the work done on the ceiling. There were many foreigners and local delhites sitting inside the lobby, some were chatting and some were strolling here and there. We asked a beautiful girl from the hotel staff about the location of Dum Pukht Restaurant and she told us to take first right turn after the lobby ending. We moved on towards the restaurant and clicked some pics while on our way. The way leading to the restaurant was decorated with beautiful handicrafts of Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.

Lovely decoration accompanied with light music added to the awesome ambience of the hotel. Dum Pukht Restaurant was located in the basement and when we reached the spot, most tables were already booked. As we already had a booking, it took us no time in ordering the dinner.

As it was already 11:00 p.m., our daughter was feeling really hungry and we did not want to take chances as she sometimes sleeps early if she does not get food. I ordered two cocktails for myself and two mocktails for my wife and daughter. After that, we ordered gravy chicken, mughlai paneer, butter naan and chapattis. The food was awesome, yummy, and family friendly.

We left the restaurant at 12:00 a.m. and moved on to see other sides of the hotel including other restaurants. We checked out the menu of Bukhara and it looked great as they were serving some unique dishes in Bukhara style of cooking (a village somewhere in Uzbekistan). Some restaurants were serving French cuisine and some were serving Chinese and North Indian cuisines.

After this, we headed towards the lift and checked out some other floors of hotel. We were surprised to see so many sections having various suites and guestrooms.

After reaching the lobby again, we went on to the reception of ITC Maurya and asked one hotel attendant about the facilities provided by the hotel and she told us that ITC Maurya consists of 515 rooms inclusive of 44 suites:
