Melrose Arch is situated in the leafy suburb of Melrose, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is an Italian style Piazza built around a number of International Hotels, boutique shops and trendy restaurants.

Those of you who have been to Johannesburg will know that is is a very spread out city, so places tend to be quite far from each other. This makes Melrose Arch a really special place for Johannesburg, a place where you can sit sipping wine on a warm day, on the piazza, and the just watch multi-cultural crowd of tourists and locals soaking up the atmosphere along with you.

And where there is wine and relaxation there is food! Here are some top spots to have a nice lunch in the Arch.

JB's is the cornerstone of Melrose Arch, expect to find it full at lunch time as it is the preferred grazing spot of the office workers around the area, and no wonder, the portions are big, the prices are good, and mail meal and drink will set up back around R80.

They have a great pavement dining area overlooking the original square.

The menu is varied, but all the sandwiches, burgers, pizza and pasta dishes are generous and tasty.

I used to work in Melrose Arch and would eat here regularly, I never had a bad meal here.

It is a great place to grab a meal and chillax, and if the lunch goes a little later than expected, they have a great cocktail menu, which are perfect to enjoy and evening creeps in and the fairy lights go on in the square.

Tasha's Melrose Arch is on the new part of the square, it is a fresh and fun place. Tashas has a great vibe and friendly staff.Be warned through, this place is really popular and without a booking do expect to queue.

Tasha's looks like a stylish coffee shop/cafe type of place, but the menu is far more sophisticated and expansive than one might think, expect to find everything from hot dogs, tuna tartare, grilled sole with prawns and lemon butter sauce, quesidillas, prawn pasta, italian tramezzinis, german shnitzels, seared salmon, huge fillet pregos, to fennel flavored chicken breasts.

Tasha's is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by on a warm Highveld afternoon.

The New-York inspired cafe, oozes style and sophistication, this brasserie would look at home on a Parisian boulevard. The place looks so good it has even won style awards.

It has an excellent location, and a big outside eating area, just perfect to enjoy an ice cold draft beer or a chilled wine.

I have only had a burger here which was fine, but the menu looks good, with a selection of pastas, salads and sandwiches.
