Lake Amistad Boating and Fishing Access
Lake Amistad is one of the premier boating destinations in Texas. It is an impressive body of water with nearly 800 miles of shore lline just outside of Del Rio Texas on the Texas / Mexico border and is home to huge large mouth bass and national level fishing tournaments every year. The reservoir is well known throughout the country If you like to fish for bass you have heard of Amistad and the stories of giant fish. So if you are thinking of taking a trip down to the Lone Star state to fish at Lake Amistad these are a few of the places that should be on your agenda for places that you can launch your boat and catch big fish. The lake consists of 4 main large arms and each are dotted with coves home to fish that thrive in this warm weather part of the country.
There are boat launching facilities in several of the arms around the lake with Diablo East being one of the more prominent locations for larger events and South Winds having a well developed facility right near town. Some of the ramps at Lake Amistad such as Spur 406 are dirt ramps so be prepared especially during times of low water that you may be launching your boat just off a dirt road and not a built out ramp.
Other species of fish exist in the lake as well so if your taking the whole family for a fishing vacation consider bringing the gear for catfish, crappie, trout, and wall eye as they are all in the lake. Make sure that you have a Texas state fishing license and drop in at any of the following boat ramps and have a great time fishing and boating at Lake Amistad.
