Caravan Storage Kununurra - Broome for exploring the Kimberley

Caravan Storage 2012

Are you planning a trip up to Broome or Kununurra in 2012 with your caravan & looking to store it while you take a tent up to Cape Leveque or do the Gibb River Road ?

We are heading up there very soon so I have been spending time looking for caravan storage for our 21 ft statesman as it is too low for many of the rough roads we want to explore like the Bungle Bungles etc

We saw , the Stairway to heaven at Onslow , however we want to visit the market as well as a camel ride on Cable Beach etc.

The following week we want to leave the caravan behind & go off 4wh driving with the tent & hopefully camp at Cape Leveque .

You really need a high 4 wh drive for the road into Middle Lagoon & Cape Leveque however it is a beautiful place to visit.

So it looks like Broome will be the best place to leave the caravan for that week.

After that we would like to do part of the Gibb River Road so will work out which is the best place to leave it as we will head to Darwin next .

I noticed a lot of other people heading that way would also like to know about caravan storage for the Kimberleys so I will share what I find & save you some time and money.

I used to be a storage Manager for self storage units so am finding this interesting . I am looking for work at the moment in Sales somewhere along the way !

Places for storage near Broome WA

I had a chat with Sue from Keshi Storage & Containers  at 20 Haynes Street,( Phone 08-9193 5343 ) Broome about Caravan Storage .

Keshi Storage has room for approximitaly 20 caravans & prices start from $55 a week.

Our 21 foot caravan will be $85 per week . If you need caravan storage for less than a week it is about $12 a day .

Sue advises you to book well ahead if you require storage between June- August as it is peak season then.

Caravan Sorage - Derby

Caravan Storage Derby

If you are traveling further on and need Caravan Storage in Derby then Kimberley Entrance Caravan Park in Rowan Street  are charging $35 a week or $7 a day so it makes it affordable to leave it more than just 1 week .

Kimberley Entrance Caravan Park is one of two located within the town of Derby and is owned and run by Ian and Julie who are most friendly and willing to assist you as much as possible.

This caravan park is a centre point for campers to leave their van and travel to many of the local scenic areas such as, Tunnel Creek, via the Old Gibb Rd as well as Winjana Gorge and flights and tours to the Horizontal Falls

If you wish to leave your van in the park in a secure area whilst exploring for a few days it costs, $7 unpowered or $10 powered,

However we also found another caravan storage area fully fenced and secured 5kms from town at the beginning of the Gibb River road that charges $3 per day or $15 per week long term, just call 0408 911 460 for more details.

Caravan Storage in Kununurra

I have just visited Zebra Rock Gallery (on Packsaddle Rd at Kununurra located on the upper Ord river just 20 min drive from Kununurra CBD.) to look there about caravan storage and it is only $7 a night . They have plenty of room so there is no need to try book in advance - just turn up !

In the dry weather caravan storage is amongst the Mangos .

,Debra sounded really friendly & the name sounds like an intriging place to visit while there as you can visit the workshop, as well as feed the fish in the Ord which we did after a coffee & scones. Sitting out the back is pleasant over looking the water.

I hope this is of some help to you on your travels to the Top of Australia . As we have now been up in the Kimberley for a while it makes sense to us to leave your caravan at either Kununurra or Derby if you are doing the Gibb River Road .

We drove across from Derby on the Gibb River Road and saw a few people with caravans however we would take a tent ourselves . I am very happy to say we had no flat tyres !

Driving at about 70 was good as it was very bumpy when stuck behind someone driving at 55k.

Make sure you explore Tunnel Creek Cave & Winjana Gorge as well as other amazing places.
