Discounted Disney Tickets: What to Know Before You Buy

If you are looking to save money on your upcoming vacation to Walt Disney World, buying discounted Disney tickets is an excellent way to save money. And while there are many vendors who are selling discount tickets to Walt Disney World, it is not always easy to know who is reputable, and who is not. This hub will discuss a variety of things to consider when deciding where to purchase discount tickets to Walt Disney World.

Always Buy Discounted Disney Tickets From an Authorized Ticket Broker

If you are looking to purchase discounted Disney tickets from a reputable ticket broker, first of all, look for the Disney logo, and "authorized discount ticket agent" designation. If you don't see these, the seller does not have the legal authority from Disney to sell tickets. Authorized brokers, through an arrangement with the attractions, (in this case Disney) purchase bulk tickets directly from the attractions. By purchasing in large volume, they receive discounts from Disney and the other attractions, which in turn are passed on to consumers. This is how you can save money, but you must look for those designations to insure that the ticket broker is reputable.

Secondly, make sure the company is a member of organizations like the Better Business Bureau, and area Chambers of Commerce. Even better, see how long they have been in business: if they have been around a while, chances are good they are a reputable company.

Discounted Disney tickets from eBay or Craigslist?

Beware buying discounted Disney tickets from eBay or Craigslist. Although the discounted prices offered on eBay or Craigslist may seem to be attractive, you should know that chances are very good that you will not get what you paid for. The problem is that there is literally no way to know, prior to getting to the park gate, if the tickets you purchased are even valid. There are, unfortunately, many con artists who frequent eBay and Craigslist, supposedly selling deeply discounted Disney tickets. If you buy from them, you have an excellent chance of buying a park pass that has no available days on it…if you even get anything at all. The problem is, you won't know, until you get to the park gate. By that time, it is too late, and your vacation is ruined.

Discount Disney Ticket Prices Too Good to be True?

Always take a good, honest look at the ticket prices, and if they seem too good to be true, they probably are! There are many seemingly legitimate sites who offer unbelievably low prices, and most are usually scams. Some note prices that are so low there is no way that they could sell tickets at that price without losing money. You can also look at the URL on the website: many of these sites are operating from Romania, and you will see .ro at the end of the URL. You may find that, among other things, these sites will want you to pay by Western Union, which means that you can't get your money back.

Also, make certain the ticket agent is not trying to sell "partially used tickets". This is a major red flag, as there is absolutely no way that you can tell if a Disney ticket really does have a certain number of days left on it. It is not until you get to the park and scan the ticket that you will know for certain if it is valid. If it is not, by that time, it is too late. In addition, Disney World park tickets are non-transferable. This means that everyone over the age of 10 has a finger scan when they use their ticket. So only that one person is able to use the ticket. Even if there are still days left on it, if someone else used the ticket before you, then you absolutely cannot. Again, you will not find out until you get to the park gate.

Lastly, make certain that the broker is not requiring you to sit through a timeshare presentation in order to receive the tickets. Check the fine print at the bottom of the website and read it carefully: it will say if they are soliciting for timeshares. While this might be worth it to some folks in order to get cheap tickets, just be aware of what you are getting into, as a high-pressure timeshare presentation can eat up several hours of your vacation.

Discount Disney Tickets: Let the Buyer Beware!

If you want to plan an affordable Disney family vacation, buying discount Disney tickets will definitely help you do just that. Walt Disney World is a dream vacation for many families, and saving money helps to make that dream a reality. Just be certain to protect that dream by choosing a reputable, authorized ticket broker for your purchase.
