Discovery Place Always Has Something New

The thing I really love about Discovery Place is almost every time you visit Discovery Place you'll find they have something new or you'll see a new animal they have added since the last time you were there.

New Aquarium Section At Discovery Place

They just added a aquarium section to Discovery Place and it just adds so much value to a trip there. If you have small children they are going to love it. I'm over 50 and I thought it was one of the most wonderful and amazing things that I had ever seen.

There are fifteen tanks in the World's Alive Aquarium Exhibit and they hold over 28,000 gallons of sea water. And if your wondering yes they have sharks now at the Discovery Place Aquarium. The Aquarium is part of the 31.6 million dollar upgrade that was recently completed. I just loved the jelly fish and sea horses. I've been to aquariums all over the United States and this is one of the best.

If You Live In N.C. Don't Miss Discovery Place

One thing that really continues to amaze me is how few people in North Carolina know about Discovery Place and what it has to offer. It really is one of the best kept secrets in North Carolina. If you live in North or South Carolina you really should take your children or grandchildren and spend a day at Discovery Place.

Hands On Exhibits At Discovery Place

And keep in mind that you just may find something wonderful at Discovery Place. They have a lot of hands on exhibits where you get to see and touch some amazing things. I know I keep going back to it but the way they have the windows fixed in the aquarium is just simply amazing. Almost every time you look away and look back you'll see something different in the window. They did a wonderful job putting the World's Alive Aquarium exhibit together and to me it just made Discovery Place so much better than it ever was before.

Spend All Day Exploring Discovery Place

The price to get into Discovery Place is quite reasonable and you can spend all day exploring all the wonderful exhibits. They have a new mask exhibit with masks from around the world. And another of my favorites the stuffed bears are still there. If you've never seen a giant brown bear or polar bear up close you'll get a chance to now. The polar bear has always amazed me. It looks so real that just for a second or two there it looks like it's going to walk right up to you.

Great Hotels And Motels Near Discovery Place

Hyatt House Center City Charlotte

The Hyatt House in the center of Charlotte was built in 2010 and I really enjoy staying there. Room prices start at $103 a night but its well worth it. They have a enclosed roof top swimming pool, complimentary breakfast, and free internet. Most rooms are equipped with stainless steel kitchens and the waffle robes just make it a place of eloquence. Everything about the Hyatt House speaks of luxury so why not pamper yourself for a day or two. The hotel is located right near the intersection of Park Road and East Independence Blvd.

There is a restaurant on premises, the pool is heated and they do have non smoking rooms. Another plus is that they have indoor parking. The staff is very friendly and they can help you to find things like Discovery Place and other wonderful Charlotte area attractions.

Hilton Garden Inn , Uptown Charlotte

Here again we have a lot for your money. With rooms from $97 you just can't go wrong with staying a night or two here. They have an indoor pool, free internet, in room dinning, flat screen TV's and they are right across the road from the NASCAR Hall Of Fame. You'll also find a great fitness center and a hot tub. The staff s friendly and very helpful.

And there are many more hotels and motels in Charlotte but those are two that I highly recommend. You can't possibly go wrong with either place but be sure to make your reservations well in advance. There are several Motel 6's in the area if your operating on a strict budget. Motel 6 almost anywhere will be clean and again you'll find a friendly helpful staff.

Where ever you stay in Charlotte be sure to check out the lobby of your hotel or motel for brochures on the attractions you can visit in the Charlotte area.

Have You Ever Visited Discovery Place?

The rainforest has always been one of my favorite exhibit's at Discovery Place and if your standing inside that exhibit you can look around and imagine that your some where along the Amazon rather than inside a building in uptown Charlotte. When you walk through the Rainforest be sure to walk slowly and check out whats under the trees. I always see a bird, a snake, or something else that I didn't see the last time I was there. I just love the way they have the water falling and its always amazed me that they have been able to create something so amazing inside a building.

As part of the new masks from around the world exhibit you get to make your very own mask to take home with you. And like I said you never know what your going to see. On my recent trip there I saw a rhinoceros head, dinosaur footprints, fossils, elephant tusks and more. Just be sure to slow down and take your time or your going to miss a lot inside Discovery Place.

The IMAX Dome Theater is one of the most amazing movie theaters I have ever been in. We watched a movie there on the nature of Yellowstone and it felt like the animals were going to walk right off the screen. If you go to Discovery Place be sure that you see a least one movie in the IMAX Dome Theater. The IMAX Theater at Discovery Place is the largest theater of its kind in the Carolinas.

You want to be sure to see the Amazing Frogs Exhibit while your there. Its one of the most interesting exhibits ever. And most children love frogs and things like that.

The Charlotte Nature Museum

Be sure that while your in Charlotte that you plan to spend a day at the Charlotte Nature Museum. They are located at 1568 Sterling Road adjacent to Freedom Park and believe me you don't want to visit Charlotte and not go to the Nature Museum. You'll see live animal exhibits, interactive nature exhibits, and a butterfly pavilion where you can walk with the butterflies. What could possibly be better than that.

Many people even those living in N.C. and S.C. miss Discovery Place and all the things that Charlotte has to offer.

Discovery Place Charlotte North Carolina

Discovery Place and the near by Nature Museum gives you a unique way to explore nature with your kids. Discovery Place is ever changing and it has plenty of hands on exhibits for you and your children to enjoy. The thing that really surprises me is how few people in N.C. and S.C. know about Discovery Place.

Don't miss the Charlotte Observer Omniplex IMAX theater. It is truly one of the most amazing things you'll ever see in your life. If you take your kids or grand-kids here you'll be building a memory that will last a lifetime. For the younger kids be sure you don't miss the interactive pet shows and hands on exhibits.
