Disney Fantasy Cruise

The Disney Fantasy cruise ship is all set to sail on it's first voyage in April 2012. This will be the fourth Disney ship to be launched and it is now available to book for it's first season of Caribbean cruises.

Disney cruises are some of the most popular at sea - and for very good reason. The combination of beautiful ships, innovative technology, exciting itineraries, and of course that very magical attention to detail and high standards of service makes a Disney cruise a great choice for a family vacation.

With the addition of the Disney Fantasy cruise ship in 2012 there will be 4 Disney ships.  The Disney Magic and it's sister ship the Wonder have been delighting passengers for the last decade. Disney is now adding 2 more ships to it's fleet.  The Disney Dream is all set to be launched in January 2011 and the Disney Fantasy will follow in 2012.

But what makes a Disney cruise so special? And what can we expect from the new Disney ships? Take a tour of the Disney Dream and the Fantasy to see the magic which these new cruise ships will offer.

Excitement on the Disney Fantasy

One of the new innovations for the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy Cruise ships is the AquaDuck.

This 765 foot long water coaster will allow guests to look out over the ocean 150 foot below! All this at speeds of up to 20 feet per second. The AquaDuck will debut on the Disney Dream and will also be a feature of the Fantasy ship.

The new Disney cruise ships are huge! The 128,000 ton Disney Fantasy is 1115 feet long and 125 wide. It has 14 Decks, 1250 staterooms and enough room for up to 4,000 passengers.

Disney cruise line is already known for it's great stateroom design and for having larger than industry standard space.  Guests will be able to choose a stateroom from one of the 9 categories available.

Disney cruise line staterooms are very well designed and lavishly furnished in an Art Deco style.  Although smaller on the square footage than the Disney Wonder and Magic, the new ships still provide a good amount of space.  Disney has also recognized that the demand for staterooms with space for 5 guests always exceeded supply on the existing  ships so the Dream and Fantasy will have many more larger staterooms for families which sleep up to 5 comfortably.

Disney cruise ships became known for being the first to introduce the concept of the "split bath" in other words having a separate space for the bath and shower, and another space for the toilet and 2 sinks.  This is a great design feature particularly for families as more than one person can use the facilities at the same time.

Disney Fantasy Virtual Porthole

Disney is known for it's innovation.  The Disney Imagineers had a great idea for the sometimes difficult to sell inside staterooms - a virtual porthole.

The Disney Fantasy inside staterooms have a window on the outside world via a live camera feed on the outside of the ship.  Passengers can see exactly what is on the outside and can also expect a few surprise Disney characters sailing past their stateroom.  Perhaps they will even Find Nemo or have an encounter with Mickey Mouse!

The Disney Fantasy with have the most popular port stop of all - Castaway Cay. Disney's private island is a tropical paradise, and cruisers consistently say that this is their very favorite port stop.

Castaway Cay has undergone some improvements recently to get ready for the new Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ships.  There will be more guests arriving onto Castaway Cay as of course the new ships are much larger than the Disney Wonder and Magic.

There is a brand new water play with a fabulous slide, Pelican Plunge. The younger ones will also enjoy Spring a Leak the new interactive water play area.

If relaxing is more your thing then you will love the new Castaway Cay Cabanas. These private cabanas are available for rental so that you can enjoy your very own sanctuary on the beach.

Castaway Cay has also added another eating venue, the barbecue themed Cookies Too BBQ.

Disney Fantasy Kids Clubs

Disney Fantasy For Kids

Of course Disney cruise ships are well known for their amazing facilities for kids and the Disney Fantasy will certainly make dreams come true.   Deck 5 of the ships is almost exclusively devoted to the kids - and the teenagers have their own place to hang out too!.

Just be aware that your kids will probably be having so much fun that they just won't want to leave......

Disney ships even have space for the very little ones with the Flounders Reef Nursery able to take children from the age of 3 months to 3 years.  The nursery does have a charge of $6 per hour and has to be booked ahead of time.  For all the other kids clubs they are completely free and available on a drop in basis.
