Dominican Republic tourist travel beaches and picturesholidays is this the REAL CARRIBEAN?

I have recently returned from a 3 week visit to the Dominican republic and where as i had a lovely holiday i didn't think it was like the Caribbean that i have experienced in the past.

The beaches of the Dominican Republic were lovely but there was something missing.

Maybe the fact i didn't hear any reggae had something to do with it!!!!. The Dominican republic is very spanish influenced, you will mainly hear salsa playing.

The Local language of the Dominican republic is Spanish so it helps if you can at least know some basics of the language to get by!!! Saying that many of the dominicans in the hotels speak very good English.

If you have never been fortunate enough to experience the Carribean and you were to visit the Dominican Republic then I'm sure you would absolutely love the island, but having spoke to other people while there it is not a patch on the other islands in the area.

Well the sun shone for 3 weeks and i have the tan to prove it and now im back in chilly England its back to the Nitty Gritty

I think its Barbados for me next time or maybe Jamacia!!!
