Dreaming of Disney: A Series of Articles to Help Fulfill Your Dreams! Part IV
We're getting towards the end of the series on dreaming about your Disneyland vacation. Today is a great part of the adventure to consider: California Adventure . I remember all the tarps and boards hanging up and lying around when I went to Disneyland with my boys in 1999. They were just building the newest part of the fun, adjacent to Disneyland park. California Adventure is amazing!
You access this fun park by entering the gateway, called Sunshine Plaza . It has a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is awe-inspiring all unto itself! The surrounding theme whisks you away to the 1920's in America, when Walt was first making his family-fun movies. Souvenirs and treats abound at the very beginning at the Plaza!
Paradise Pier is loaded with roller coasters and a huge ferris wheel (called Mickey's Fun Wheel ) with Mickey's shining face on it! Games of the Boardwalk , Silly Symphony Swings and Toy Store Mania are all part of the fun as well.
The World of Color is sureal with its screen of water mist (fifty feet high and three hundred and eighty feet wide!), that come to life with Disney stories such as The Lion King . Belle and many of the pirates are featured here for you. Lights, twelve hundred (yes, I am serious, there are that many) choreographed fountains and flames will be sure to inspire your imagination and thrill the hearts of young and old alike!
The Golden State section of the park is for the adventurous, outdoors-y types. You can let your feet tangle on the "hang glider" which gives you more awe-inspiring views as you go Soarin' Over California. Crashing the rapids in a white water raft on the Grizzly River Run and catching up to Lightning McQueen and Mater on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail are all once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
One of the most fun visits in the park for the youngest folks is a bug's land . The Princess Dot Puddle Park is great because water squirts from the ground up to let you soak in the cool water during the hot summer days, just like running through the water sprinkler at home! It's a blast! You will also learn how it feels to be bug-sized when you experience the "It's Tough to Be a Bug!" attraction. Whoa, I bet it's how Alice felt in Wonderland! The fabulously named ride, Heimlich's Chew Chew Train takes you on a ride through this caterpillar's meals, believe it or not! Now, that's an experience for you! Another fun ride are the bumper cars, based on the movie, A Bug's Life . Bump, crash and laugh out loud on Tuck and Roll's Drive 'Em Buggies .
As far as eating at this dream land, there are many excellent places your taste buds would love to feast! Anything from Mexican food, to ice cream, to non-alcoholic mint juleps and wine! Heck, there's even barbeques, bakeries and meals fit for a Princess! Here is the link for you to review:
Last, but not least, is Hollywood Pictures Backlot . This is a hands-on experience where you can learn to draw the Disney characters from a real-life Disney artist! You can watch the musical based on the movie, Aladdin. You can dance, play arcade games and watch talented performers at ElecTRONica, based on the TRON: Legacy. Not only will you get physical exercise and visual pleasure, you will soon realize that you can be an artist if you choose to, you don't have to just dream about it!
There are many more attractions and events to take part of here at California Adventure . Maybe giving you this much to consider will at least get you to check out the fun for yourself. It's well worth the visit!
Next time you read my work, we will discuss attractions you may want to ponder in and around Anaheim, to add more fun to your vacation!
